Rebecca Akufo-Addo cuts sod for new Girls’ dormitory at Wesley Grammar School
Former First Lady Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo on Friday, November 29, 2025, cut the sod for the construction of a new Girls’ Dormitory Block at Wesley Grammar School in the Greater Accra Region, marking a major step toward enhancing infrastructure and improving access to quality education for young girls.
The project, she said, reflects a shared national commitment to providing a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for female students to learn and develop.
Mrs. Akufo-Addo, an alumna of the institution, expressed delight at contributing to the continued transformation of her former school.
“It brings me great joy to support the growth of our beloved school.
Together, we can build an institution of excellence that inspires future generations,” she stated.
The sod-cutting ceremony comes as Wesley Grammar prepares to celebrate its 70th Anniversary in March 2026.
Mrs. Akufo-Addo noted that the new dormitory project should serve as a symbol of hope, opportunity, and progress for all past and present students of the institution, known as WESGOSANS.
School authorities and stakeholders welcomed the initiative, describing it as a significant boost to the school’s infrastructure development agenda.
