Step aside for probe into unauthorised items sold to fresh students – GES to GHANASS head

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has said it has been notified of the unauthorised sale of items to new students reporting to the Ghana Senior High School (GHANASS) in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua.
This was contained in a letter addressed to the Headmistress of the school, Patience Naki Mensah, dated Thursday, 7 December 2023, and signed by the Eastern Regional Director for Education Ivy Asantewa Owusu.
According to the GES, the items being sold to first-year students include “ceremonial cloth” at GHS200, “track suits” at GHS250 and other items.
“You are, therefore, being asked to step aside with effect from 7 December 2023, for further investigation to be conducted into the allegations,” the governing body noted in its letter.
