The Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana has said the intended mid-semester examination and end of semester examination for level 200 and 300, cannot be conducted as scheduled due to the number of contact hours lost with tutors.

According to TTAG, the recent strike by CETAG distorted tutoring and learning, thus the examinations cannot be conducted as scheduled.

A statement issued by TTAG, Wednesday, 30 November 2022, on the re-arrangement of the conduct of mid-semester and end of semester examinations for levels 200 and 300, said: “Trainees have been affected by the CETAG industrial strike and in effect have lost 5 weeks of contact hours with their tutors both in the first and second phases of the semester.

“Tutors were not able to cover most topics of their course outlines before the effectiveness of the CETAG strike action neither have they been able to award scores of Continuous Assessment.”

Taking congnizance of the communiqué issued by the University of Education, Winneba(UEW) and University for Development Studies (UDS), “indicating the suspensions of the mid and end of semester examinations respectively” the association noted “we believe that the mentoring universities suspended their quizzes and exams on the above reasons considering the good interest of the student teachers.”

It added: “All student teachers should decline decisions on the effectiveness of both mid-semester and end of semester examinations until further notice.”
