V/R: Bee attack on Anloga EP Basic School leaves 2 dead
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has confirmed reports of a tragic bee attack at Anloga E.P. Basic School.
The incident, which took place on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, according to a GES statement, resulted in injuries to some members of the school community.
GES noted that a total of 30 persons were affected.
"These include five teachers who were stung while attempting to rescue learners, three school feeding cooks, and twenty-two learners, two of whom have sadly lost their lives," the statement explained.
GES extended its "deepest condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families in this difficult time".
The service additionally wished victims who sustained varying degrees of injuries, a speedy recovery, assuring them of their "full support throughout the recovery process".
GES thanked the teachers, officials of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), and community members "whose swift intervention helped to salvage the situation".
The service noted they are working closely with the GNFS, the National Disaste Management Organisation (NADMO), and the District Chief Executive (DCE), Sandra Seyram Kpedor, to "completely eliminate the habitat of the bees and to put measures in place to prevent any future occurrence".
