Bawumia consoles Mahama over loss of ministers in helicopter crash

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Saturday, August 9, paid a condolence visit to President John Dramani Mahama at his private residence, following the deaths of two ministers of state and six other officials in the August 6 military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region.
Accompanied by officials of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and members of the previous government, Dr. Bawumia expressed his deepest condolences to President Mahama, the bereaved families, and the entire nation, describing the tragedy as a painful moment for Ghana.
Earlier in the day, Dr. Bawumia also visited the family of the late Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, to personally convey his sympathies and offer support.
The fatal crash in the Ashanti Region claimed the lives of Dr. Omane Boamah, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed, former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye, NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong, and three Ghana Armed Forces personnel.
Later that evening, an “Evening of Reflections” and a memorial service for the victims was held at the Forecourt of the State House, drawing dignitaries, families, and citizens to honour the memory of the fallen.
