The Concerned Youth of Tema has issued a strong statement refuting what they describe as “malicious and fabricated” allegations of bribery and corruption against the Managing Director of TDC Ghana Limited, Mr. Courage Makafui Nunekpeku.

The allegations, circulated in a viral video published by OHIA TV — a platform reportedly linked to NPP Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman, Abronya DC — claim that Mr. Nunekpeku accepted a GHS 2 million bribe from one Mr Adade Bawuah in exchange for permission to construct a fence wall.

The Concerned Youth of Tema dismissed the claims as illogical, arguing that no individual would pay such an amount merely to fence land they already own.

They alleged that the accusations are part of a coordinated campaign by persons who have repeatedly attempted to coerce the TDC boss into allocating fraudulent lands, including government-reserved and privately owned parcels.

According to the group, Mr. Nunekpeku’s refusal to bow to such pressure has provoked a wave of falsehoods aimed at damaging his reputation.

They praised him for being “firm, fearless, and uncompromising” in safeguarding the integrity of the corporation’s land administration.

The viral video also referenced construction activities near the Tema Ramsar Site — a protected wetland designated under the Ramsar Convention in 1992, known for supporting more than 70 species of waterbirds and serving as a vital ecological buffer.

The youth group stressed that successive governments and the Presidency have issued firm directives to protect the area from encroachment.

They emphasised that Mr. Nunekpeku has consistently upheld laws governing the Ramsar Site, which may have angered individuals seeking to exploit the land illegally.

Another claim in the video suggests that Mr. Bawuah dragged the TDC Managing Director before the arbitration court of Klikor in the Ketu South Municipality.

The youth group dismissed this assertion as well, noting that if there had truly been a bribery transaction of such magnitude, the accusers would have invoked traditional sanctions or oaths — a common cultural practice in such disputes.

In the statement, the Concerned Youth of Tema warned individuals behind the accusations that their efforts to discredit the Managing Director will not succeed.

They praised Mr. Nunekpeku’s commitment to protecting public and private lands from encroachment and vowed to stand firmly by him.

“No amount of fabricated stories, sponsored media attacks, or underhanded tactics will intimidate him,” the group declared.
