Defence Minister pays tribute to late Ambassador Sam Pee Yalley

Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has paid glowing tribute to the late Sam Pee Yalley, describing him as a “passionate soldier” in Ghana’s ongoing struggle for democratic consolidation, which he referred to as the nation’s "second independence."
The tribute follows the passing of the former Ghanaian Ambassador to India, who died over the weekend at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
In a statement issued after the news broke, Dr. Boamah hailed the late diplomat for his unwavering dedication to the cause of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), particularly during the 2024 general elections, which saw the party secure a resounding victory.
“Uncle Sam was more than a diplomat; he was a tireless fighter for justice, democracy, and national progress. His role in our victory on December 7, 2024, was immense.
He was a passionate soldier in Ghana’s second independence struggle,” the Minister said.
Sam Pee Yalley, a respected legal practitioner and statesman, served in various capacities within the NDC and government, including as Ambassador to India and as a member of the National Democratic Congress’ legal and communications teams.
His passing has sparked an outpouring of tributes from political leaders, colleagues, and citizens across the country, with many describing him as a committed patriot who dedicated his life to public service and nation-building.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in due course
