Energy Minister tours temporary control room project at Akosombo switchyard
The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has undertaken a working visit to the Akosombo Switchyard to assess progress on the construction of a temporary control room structure.
The inspection formed part of the Ministry’s efforts to obtain firsthand information on the ongoing works and monitor developments aimed at strengthening power transmission operations within the country’s energy sector.
Dr. Jinapor was accompanied by a technical team during the visit and was received by the Chief Executive of Ghana Grid Company, Frank Oware, together with members of the company’s management team and directors.
Officials from GRIDCo briefed the Minister on the progress of the project and outlined measures being implemented to improve operational efficiency and system reliability at the facility.
Also present during the inspection was the Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority, Edward Ekow Obeng-Kenzo, who joined officials in providing updates on the project and broader operational activities at the switchyard.
The visit underscores government’s continued focus on strengthening Ghana’s energy infrastructure and ensuring stable and efficient electricity transmission across the country.
