Former Bantama MP Daniel Okyem Aboagye, passes away
Daniel Okyem Aboagye, the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama under the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has tragically passed away on the early morning of Saturday, September 23, at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) after a brief illness.
Sources indicate that Mr. Aboagye was urgently admitted to KATH on Friday, September 22. As of now, the family has not issued an official statement regarding the MP's passing.
Mr. Okyem Aboagye, who held the position of MP from 2017 to 2021, emerged victorious in the NPP primaries in 2015 by defeating Dr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu.
During his tenure, he notably served as a member of the Finance Committee in the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic. However, he was defeated by Francis Asenso-Boakye in a closely contested primary leading up to the 2020 elections, with Dr. Kokofu supporting the current Minister of Works and Housing.
Beyond his political career, Mr. Okyem Aboagye was the CEO of the renowned transport company, 2M Express. He pursued his education at the University of Ghana, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and later completed his MBA and MIS in Accounting from Troy University, Alabama, USA in 2002.
He was certified as a public accountant by the Certified Public Accountant of USA in 2003.
