Gas booster station near Tema Oil Refinery catches fire

A fire broke out at a gas booster station located close to the Tema Oil Refinery.
The incident occurred this morning of Friday, 29 September 2023.
While the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, Quantum Gas, the operators of the station, suspect that the incident may have been triggered by someone smoking in the vicinity.
The quick response of the Fire Service prevented the fire from escalating.
Fire fighters managed to extinguish the flames without significant damage reported.
According to initial reports, Quantum Gas was in the process of transferring gas from vessels docked at the nearby Tema Port to the booster station for further distribution to terminals in the surrounding area when the fire occurred.
Investigations have since commenced into the incident
