George Akuffo Dampare expresses gratitude following replacement as IGP

Former Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has expressed his profound gratitude to Ghanaians following his replacement, as announced in a press statement by the Minister for Government Communications on March 13, 2025.
In a statement released dated March 14, 2025, and signed by Nana Osei Afrifa, Executive Assistant Dr. Dampare acknowledged the overwhelming support and goodwill messages he has received from citizens and well-wishers across the country and beyond.
He extended special appreciation to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for granting him the opportunity to serve as the youngest IGP in the 4th Republic.
He also expressed gratitude to current President John Dramani Mahama for their cordial working relationship in the short time they collaborated.
Dr. Dampare further expressed appreciation to religious and traditional leaders for their guidance and prayers, as well as to the heads of sister security agencies for their cooperation and support.
He also acknowledged the role of civil society organizations, the international community, and diplomatic missions in contributing to his tenure’s success.
Reflecting on his 35-year career in the Ghana Police Service, he recounted his rise from a General Constable to Inspector-General of Police, making history as the youngest Commissioner of Police and the youngest IGP in the 4th Republic.
His tenure saw him serve as Director-General of almost all departments, including two stints as DG/Welfare and DG/Administration.
Dr. Dampare credited the rank and file of the Ghana Police Service for their dedication to maintaining security, law, and order during his tenure. He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to Ghana, emphasizing his enthusiasm and readiness to continue serving the nation with discipline, honour, and integrity.
