Ghana Air Force to hold candlelight vigil for Z-9 helicopter crash victims

The Ghana Air Force will on Tuesday, 12 August 2025, hold a candlelight vigil in honour of the eight victims of the Z-9 helicopter crash that occurred on 6 August 2025.
The solemn ceremony will take place at Base Square, Air Force Base, Accra, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Those to be honoured include:
Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence
Dr. Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation
Alhaji Muniru Mohammed
Dr. Samuel Sarpong
Samuel Aboagye
Squadron Leader Peter Baafemi Anala
Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu
Sergeant Mensah Addo Ernest
The event will bring together military personnel, government officials, families, and members of the public to pay tribute to the fallen.
The vigil will be marked by candlelight processions, moments of silence, and messages of remembrance.
In a closing tribute, the Ghana Air Force declared: “Ghana Air Force Mourns Fallen Heroes.”
