Ghana, Czech Republic deepen defence cooperation on day two of President Petr Pavel’s visit

As part of day two of his historic state visit to Ghana, Czech President H.E. Petr Pavel led a delegation of Czech defence business entities to the Ministry of Defence in Accra to explore deeper cooperation and investment opportunities in the defence and security sectors.
The high-level engagement aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s broader vision of attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) to catalyse economic growth and drive job creation across various sectors of the Ghanaian economy.
Discussions focused on strengthening defence diplomacy, technology transfer, and industrial partnerships aimed at enhancing the capacity of Ghana’s defence infrastructure.
Particular attention was given to exploring collaborative opportunities with the Defence Industries Holding Company (DIHOC) of the Ghana Armed Forces, which is currently incubating a range of promising ventures in agriculture, manufacturing, and other strategic industries.
Officials from both countries reaffirmed their commitment to building sustainable partnerships that will not only improve national security capabilities but also stimulate broader economic development.
The visit marks a significant step toward expanding Ghana–Czech relations beyond traditional sectors, signaling Ghana’s renewed positioning as an attractive destination for investment and innovation.
“Ghana is open for business once again,” a Minister for Defence Dr Edward Omane Boamah, stated, highlighting the country’s readiness to welcome credible foreign partnerships to boost industrial growth and national development.
President Pavel’s state visit continues with further engagements aimed at strengthening bilateral ties in trade, technology, education, and security cooperation.
