IGP commends security agency heads for support ahead of 2024 elections
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has extended his appreciation to the heads of various security agencies in Ghana for their unwavering support since he assumed office.
The acknowledgment was made during a meeting of the national election security task force held at the Police Headquarters in Accra.
Dr Dampare expressed gratitude for the high level of collaboration among the security agencies, emphasising the importance of their joint efforts in carrying out their duties.
He commended the responsiveness of the agency heads whenever called upon, underscoring the mutual support that has characterized their working relationship.
“I deeply appreciate the extent of collaboration between us. Anytime of the day I have called on any of you, you have proven to have my back, and I have your back also. And I know that if we continue to work together like this, Ghana will continue to be the winner,” remarked the IGP.
Addressing the upcoming 2024 elections, Dr Dampare assured Ghanaians that the security agencies are committed to ensuring a peaceful and incident-free electoral process.
He pledged to work closely with his colleagues to maintain the peaceful trend observed in elections since he assumed office.
“We want to assure my sister (EC Chairperson) that we will continue to work with my colleagues here to ensure that just as elections in the country, since I took over have been peaceful, the 2024 polls will be the same,” the IGP stated.
The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs Jean Mensa, who attended the stakeholder meeting, expressed her gratitude to the security agencies for their consistent support during elections.
