Irrigation dam spillage floods hundreds of Dawhenya homes
In Dawhenya near Prampram, Greater Accra Region, hundreds of residents are grappling with displacement caused by flooding due to the spillage of an irrigation dam.
Some affected residents reported that the water reached the window level of their homes, forcing evacuations.
Mr Richard Mohammed, an assembly member, stated that over 200 houses have been affected, emphasising that this incident is the third occurrence this year.
The Scheme Manager for the Dawhenya Dam project, Samuel Tetteh, attributed the flooding to excess water from a separate stream exacerbated by recent heavy rains, denying responsibility for the dam's spillage.
