Limited voter registration exercise will be extended if there’s a backlog of voters by May,27 – EC assures Ghanaians
The Electoral Commission (EC) has instructed its district officers to shift to offline registration mode, effective today, Thursday, 9 May, 2024.
This is in response to network challenges encountered on the afternoon of Wednesday, 8 May, 2024.
The decision to transition to offline registration mode was communicated through a statement issure by the EC, in which the Commission expressed its apologies for the delays experienced due to the network issues.
“The Commission apologises for the delays experienced this afternoon,” the statement said.
The EC further assured stakeholders that measures were being taken to promptly address the situation and ensure a smooth registration process for all eligible voters.
“The Commission assures its stakeholders that should there be a backlog of voters at the end of the twenty-one (21) day process, the registration exercise will be extended beyond the 27th of May, 2024 deadline,” the statement emphasised.
