MIIF, WIM Ghana explores partnership to boost female participation in sector
The Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) and Women in Mining Ghana (WIM Ghana) have held discussions on potential collaboration aimed at expanding women’s participation and leadership within Ghana’s mining industry.
The engagement took place during a courtesy call by WIM Ghana on the Chief Executive Officer of MIIF, Justina Nelson, and focused on strengthening gender inclusion and professional development opportunities in the extractive sector.
Key areas discussed included leadership development programmes, mentorship initiatives, internship opportunities for female students, as well as research-driven advocacy and strategic partnerships with industry players, academic institutions, and international organisations.
WIM Ghana said the engagement aligns with its broader mission of bridging the gender gap in mining through targeted capacity-building, technical training, networking platforms, and leadership development programmes for women and girls.
The organisation expressed appreciation to Mrs. Nelson and the MIIF team for what it described as productive discussions, reaffirming its commitment to creating more opportunities for women to thrive and take up leadership roles in Ghana’s mining and extractive sector.
