Malik Basintale appointed Acting CEO of YEA
President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Malik Basintale, the Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).
His appointment follows the resignation of Kofi Baah Agyepong, who stepped down citing personal commitments and aspirations.
Malik Basintale, a prominent voice in the NDC and a key figure in the party’s 2024 election campaign, is set to assume office officially on Monday, January 27, 2025.
Known for his youth-focused advocacy and dynamic political engagement, he is expected to bring innovation and fresh energy to the agency’s mission of tackling youth unemployment.
Expressing his gratitude on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Basintale wrote:
"Thank you, Mr. President, H.E. John D. Mahama. We shall not fail you."
Outgoing CEO Kofi Baah Agyepong, who led the YEA for the past two years, described his tenure as "an honour and a privilege." In his resignation letter to President Mahama, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to reducing youth unemployment and wished his successor success in his new role.
Agyepong’s resignation is among several high-profile departures from state agencies and institutions following the December 7 elections.
