NE/R: 60-year-old alleged witch shot dead

A 60-year-old woman at Janga, within the West Mamprusi Municipality of the North-East Region, Musah Azaratu Poanaa, has been shot dead.
Local reports suggest that she was shot by two young men who believed she was attempting to bewitch a resident in the community.
According to witnesses, the assailants are believed to be the sons of the man whom the deceased was accused of trying to bewitch.
The daughter of the victim, Musah Asana, recounted the harrowing incident, stating that the attackers entered their home, fired warning shots, and then fatally shot her mother.
The motive behind the attack was rooted in allegations of witchcraft against the victim.
Asana revealed that the assailants had accused her mother of being a witch, and this tragic incident followed earlier threats made by them on September 23rd, claiming that her mother intended to harm their father through witchcraft.
Asana is urgently calling for the arrest of the two young men, identified as Abila and Fatau.
She expressed her frustration with the police's response, as they had reportedly not apprehended the suspects.
She emphasised her desire for the authorities to take swift action and ensure that justice is served.
