National Security allegedly sponsors smear campaign against GJA President
Operatives of National Security and its allies have allegedly started a smear campaign against the President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Albert Dwumfour, following the latter’s expose' of some questionable activities at the security establishment.
Mr. Dwumfour’s newspaper, Daily Analyst, has started serializing a leaked confidential document, which exposes some nefarious activities at National Security headed by Edward Kwaku Asomani.
Strangely, a group identifying as Youth for Media Freedom (YMF) has made wild and unsubstantiated allegations against the GJA in a so-called petition, demanding his removal from office.
Sources suggest that the National Security Organization is the driving force behind the anonymous group.
In its latest publication, the Daily Analyst reported that leaked confidential documents have revealed massive scandals at the National Security headed by Edward Kwaku Asomani.
Mr Asomani is described as EKA in the leaked confidential report, which touches on issues of harassment and victimization of staff, the alleged sale of the residence of the coordinator, secret meetings with opposition elements, and other confidential matters bothering state security.
The confidential document which was addressed to the Presidency revealed EKA's shameful attempt to sell the National Coordinator's Ridge residence to an estate developer.
“EKA, a few months ago, made an enterprising attempt to offload the official coordinator’s residence located at Ridge, at an absurdly undervalued price,” the Daily Analyst alleged.
According to the confidential documents, EKA teamed up with marauding estate agents to sell the said property and auction it back into his portfolio, however, the transaction “was stalled by a former National Security Coordinator, who warned the interested party of probable repercussions.”
“It would be recalled that EKA confided in a close confidant that he had made millions of dollars.
EKA pinpointed various properties purchased during his tenure as coordinator and again boasted that several properties were acquired in the affluent Cantonments area worth millions of dollars.
Troubling, EKA specified that some of his Cantonments properties had been rented to the United States Embassy for a period of 17 years “ the leaked documents revealed.
