National Security operatives raid former Bank of Ghana Governor’s residence

A team of heavily armed men, led by Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat, raided the private residence of former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, on the morning of Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
The operation took place at Dr. Addison’s Roman Ridge residence in Accra while he was at home.
Witnesses say the armed operatives, some wearing headgear and wielding AK-47 rifles, stormed the property and conducted a thorough search.
According to sources, the National Security team disabled the property’s CCTV system upon arrival before demanding that Dr. Addison lead them to “vaults” within the house.
The former Governor, visibly shocked, reportedly maintained his composure and informed the operatives that he had no vaults or hidden cash on the premises.
The reasons behind the raid remain unclear, and authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the operation.
The incident has sparked concerns about the use of state security agencies in high-profile searches and raised questions about due process.
