Nii Lante takes on Koku Anyidoho over Atta Mills’ remembrance 12 years on

Nii Lante Vanderpuye, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Odododiodio Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, has described the behaviour of the party's former Deputy General Secretary, Mr Koku Anyidoho, as "buffoonery."

Mr Vanderpuye's remarks were made in reference to Anyidoho's actions concerning the family issues of the late President John Evans Atta-Mills.

Mr Vanderpuye stated that the term "buffoon" aptly describes Anyidoho’s conduct, asserting that if President Mills were alive, he would have called Anyidoho's actions buffoonery, given the late president's candid nature.

"I want to emphasise that buffoonery is not an insult; it is simply a description of Mr. Anyidoho's actions," Mr Vanderpuye clarified.

He added that Anyidoho appears to be refusing to mature, still indulging in childish antics. "You cannot continue to live this way," he urged Anyidoho.

The former Minister for Youth and Sports made these comments in reaction to an incident at the 12th anniversary celebration of President Atta-Mills' passing at Castle Drive in Osu where Mr Anyidoho had reportedly organised a separate group claiming to be the late president's true family.

Mr Vanderpuye criticised Anyidoho for being filled with bitterness and failing to learn from past experiences.

"The people with Koku Anyidoho, pretending to be the real relatives of Atta Mills—that is not true, we don't know them anywhere, he has misled them by telling them that the rest of us are paternal brothers and sisters while they are not the real family," Mr Vanderpuye asserted.

The MP highlighted that the immediate family of the late President Mills is well-known, including his brother, who is also an MP, and his son.

He expressed concern over Anyidoho's continued divisive actions and urged him to rise above his bitterness.

He explained that he took Mr Anyidoho to the late president adding that Mr Anyidoho just worked with the late President and he is not a relation.

Mr Vanderpuye made these assertions about Mr Ayidoho while speaking in an interview on Accra-based Citi FM on Wednesday July 24, 2024
