Dec. 7 polls: Bawumia calls for peace, promises reforms on tour of Greater Accra
The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on Ghanaians to embrace peace leading up to and beyond the December 7 general elections.
During his visit to various churches in the Weija-Gbawe Constituency on Sunday, 1 September 2024, Dr. Bawumia emphasised the need for peaceful dialogue rather than violence, underscoring the importance of elections as a platform for exchanging ideas.
Accompanied by the NPP Parliamentary aspirant Jerry Ahmed Shaib, Greater Accra Regional Minister Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, Anyaa-Sowutuom MP Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi, former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong, and other party leaders, Dr. Bawumia visited several churches, including Hills Pentecostal Church, Mandela Assembly of the Church of Pentecost, New Jerusalem Presbyterian Church, and Ayigbe Town District of the Church of Pentecost.
He also attended services at the Disciples of Christ Ministries, led by Apostle Mrs. Lilian Kumah.
Referencing Matthew 19:26, Dr. Bawumia urged the clergy to pray for the nation, himself, and the NPP’s parliamentary candidates.
At the Ablekuma-Pokuase intersection in the Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency, he engaged warmly with local traders and pedestrians, sharing his “Bold Solutions” message.
He promised to create jobs by training one million youth in digital skills if elected President.
At the Pentecost University, Dr. Bawumia met with local clergy, imams, chiefs, and opinion leaders to discuss government policies, including the Free Senior High School (SHS) programme, free technical and vocational education, and the restoration of allowances for nursing and teacher training.
He also highlighted the ongoing construction of Agenda 111 hospitals and the introduction of the Zongo Development Fund, which aims to improve Zongo communities through ICT centers, sanitation, and scholarships for medical studies in Cuba.
