Egyapa Mercer files nomination for Sekondi, confident of retaining seat
The Member of Parliament for Sekondi, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has officially filed his nomination to run for re-election in the 2024 general elections under the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Following the submission of his paperwork at the Electoral Commission's office, Mr. Mercer expressed strong confidence in his ability to retain the Sekondi seat, which he has held since 2017.
In remarks to the media, Mr. Mercer highlighted his significant contributions to the Sekondi constituency, including the redevelopment of Effia Nkwanta into a Teaching Hospital, various road and infrastructure improvements, and other key projects. He believes these achievements will form a solid foundation for his re-election bid.
Mr. Mercer emphasised that Sekondi has traditionally been a stronghold for the NPP and expressed optimism that the party will continue its dominance in the area.
He assured constituents that, if re-elected, he would persist in addressing local challenges and spearheading further development projects.
The Tourism Minister also urged NPP supporters in Sekondi to unite and support the party to secure victories in both the parliamentary and presidential elections, stressing the importance of a cohesive campaign effort to maintain the party’s hold on the seat and contribute to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s re-election as President.
