#OccupyJulorbiHouse protest: Your actions 'uncivil,' maintain peace – Police warn democracy Hub protesters
The Ghana Police Service is cautioning Democracy Hub demonstrators against actions that block traffic and inconvenience the public.
In a statement, the police criticised the protesters' actions as “uncivil, unpatriotic, and un-Ghanaian,” citing circulating videos and images of demonstrators obstructing roads.
The authorities called on the protesters to respect the rights of other citizens by avoiding disruptions that prevent the public from going about their daily routines.
The police emphasised the need for the demonstrators to engage peacefully and not interfere with public movement.
To manage the escalating tensions, the police have ramped up their presence across the city, deploying additional officers to keep traffic moving while ensuring security, law, and order.
While reaffirming their respect for the right to peaceful protest, the police assured Ghanaians of their commitment to upholding public safety.
The group has embarked on a three-day protest which began on Saturday, 21 September 2024.
The protest is intended to draw attention to significant national issues including socio-economic injustice, unemployment, rising poverty, state capture, nepotism, corruption, and the need for judicial independence.
