Poll date remains Dec. 7 and no new C.I will be laid before Parliament – Jean Mensa
Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) Jean Mensa has outlined the extensive preparations being made for the upcoming December 7 elections.
Addressing key issues and procedural changes, the EC chair assured Parliament of the Commission's readiness to conduct free and fair elections.
In a comprehensive briefing to Parliament today, Friday, 19 July 2024, the EC chair revealed that no new Constitutional Instrument (C.I.) will be laid before Parliament before the polls.
Additionally, the proposal to shift the election date to November has been deferred to 2028, ensuring the Saturday, 7 December 2024, date remains unchanged.
To enhance the integrity of the voting process, the EC chair confirmed the use of indelible ink for the upcoming elections.
