President Mahama dissolves boards of state institutions appointed by Akufo-Addo administration
President John Dramani Mahama has directed the dissolution of all boards of statutory corporations, commissions, and councils appointed by the previous Akufo-Addo administration.
The announcement was made through a statement issued by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesperson to the President and Member of Parliament for Abura Asebu Kwamankese.
The directive, effective immediately, is in line with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845), which governs transitions between administrations.
This move is part of a broader effort by President Mahama’s government to restructure state institutions for greater efficiency and alignment with its governance agenda.
The statement emphasized that independent constitutional bodies are exempt from this directive, ensuring their autonomy is maintained.
The affected boards and commissions will be reconstituted in accordance with their enabling laws.
The government has assured the public that the process will be conducted transparently and in the nation’s best interest.
This latest directive underscores President Mahama’s commitment to reforming state institutions to better serve the needs of Ghanaians.
