President Mahama grants posthumous promotions to Air Force officers killed in helicopter crash

President John Dramani Mahama has conferred posthumous promotions on three Ghana Air Force personnel who perished in the August 6 military helicopter crash, recognising their “service and sacrifice to the nation.”
The announcement was made on Friday, August 15, during an inter-faith state funeral at Independence Square, held in honour of the eight victims of the tragic crash.
The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, the military high command, bereaved families, and mourners from across the country.
The officers honoured were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Under the promotions, Squadron Leader Anala was elevated to Wing Commander, Flying Officer Twum-Ampadu to Flight Lieutenant, and Sergeant Mensah to Flight Sergeant.
President Mahama described their passing as “a great loss to the nation,” noting that the officers “died in the line of duty” and served with exceptional dedication and professionalism.
He assured the families of continued government support, adding that their loved ones’ legacies would remain an enduring part of Ghana’s military history.
