V/R: Tsito-Anyirawase road open to motorists

Reconstruction works on the Tsito-Anyirawase road in the Ho-West Constituency of the Volta Region have been completed.
The road has subsequently been opened to traffic on Monday, September 25, 2023.
Briefing the media at a ceremony to open the road to traffic, the Volta Regional Director of the Ghana Highway Authority, Mr Aminu Issaka Abubakar, noted that many people have expressed surprise at the short notice at which the work was done.
According to the Volta Regional GHA Director, the general public, including the media has expressed worry over how quickly the construction was done.
“The media are worried that we said we are opening the bridge today. That is the call I started getting from some media houses and we informed the media houses that this has not been a normal construction,” Mr Abubakar said.
He noted that due to the significance of the road, which leads to the Volta Regional capital Ho, the construction works was treated as an emergency.
Mr Abubakar further allayed the fears of the general public about the construction works being done shoddily due to the duration.
On his part, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of First Sky Construction, the contractor working on the stretch, Mr Oliver Acquah-Techie, revealed they were called about the defected culvert on Monday, 18 September 2023, and began work on the road the following day.
He indicated that as a construction company, all technology was applied to ensure completion of work in a record time of six days.
“We have worked on the section both day and night to achieve its completion in the six days looking at the frustration of motorists and other road users,” said Mr Acquah-Techie.
He disclosed that the road will be ready for heavy duty vehicles in the coming days while it is currently ready for light duty vehicles.
The Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, commended the GHA, First Sky Construction and other stakeholders for their cooperation within the period of the construction works.
He also assured that stretch from Low Price Masters filling station to the Anyirawase roundabout which is being washed-out by the rains, will be worked on in due course.
The Tsito-Anyirawase section of the Accra-Ho Highway was closed to traffic on Monday, 18 September 2023, following a heavy downpour that caused defects in the culvert making it unmotorable.
