We’re not involved in GIS land encroachment – Office of the President
The Office of the President has categorically denied any involvement in a land dispute involving the Ghana International School (GIS).
This follows claims that the Office, through the Head of the VVIP Unit, was implicated in attempts to encroach on the school's property.
In a statement issued on Thursday, 5 September 2024, signed by the Director of Communications, Eugene Arhin, the Presidency clarified that it holds no stake in the land at the centre of the dispute, located in the Cantonments area of Accra.
The statement emphasised that no officer or agent from the Office of the President has been authorized to interfere with the property in question.
“The Office of the President does NOT have any interest whatsoever in the piece of land in question,” the statement underscored.
“No directives have been given to any officer to secure or interfere with the property,” it added.
To address the matter, the Office of the President has formally lodged a complaint with the Inspector General of Police, calling for a thorough investigation to uncover the facts.
The statement therefore urged the public to disregard any allegations linking the Office to the land dispute, describing them as unfounded and “false”.
