The Western Region has been plunged into mourning following the tragic loss of eight gallant men, prompting an outpouring of grief and solidarity across the region.

In their honour, traditional leaders, the Western Regional Coordinating Council, security services, and students came together for a solemn candlelight vigil.

Addressing the gathering, Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi, Garrison Commander and Takoradi Air Force Commander, paid tribute to the fallen, describing them as not only skilled aviators but also devoted public servants whose absence will be profoundly felt.

He pledged to keep their memories alive.

Paramount Chief of the Wassa Amenfi Traditional Area, Tetrete Okuamoah Sekyim II, urged Ghanaians to transform their grief into unity and collective progress.

He called on citizens to safeguard the nation and value its people, while appealing to the government to appropriately honour the fallen heroes.

He assured that the Western Regional House of Chiefs fully supports such an initiative.

The vigil served as both a heartfelt farewell and a reminder of the sacrifices made in service to Ghana.
