A/R: Ministry Labour establishes Health and Safety Enforcement and Compliance Special Task Force
The Ministry of Labour, Jobs, and Employment has established a Health and Safety Enforcement and Compliance Special Task Force to strengthen the oversight of workplace standards in the Ashanti region.
The task force, initiated by Dr Rashid Pelpuo, sector minister, aims to support the Factory Inspectorate Agency in ensuring employers fully adhered to health and safety laws.
Dr Pelpuo stated that the law required employers in both the public and private sectors to provide safe working conditions and protect workers' health.
He noted that employers were expected to register their companies and facilitate annual inspections by the Factory Inspectorate Agency to safeguard employees' safety and working conditions.
However, compliance has been low, mainly due to a limited workforce within the Factory Inspectorate Agency, which is responsible for inspecting and certifying workplaces annually to ensure conformity.
At the inauguration of the task force in Kumasi today, Friday, November 14, 2025, the minister said the team had been set up to assist in monitoring, identifying violations, and ensuring that employers strictly follow workplace safety regulations.
For his part, the Chairman of the Health and Safety Committee of the ministry's task force, Daniel Ayikwei, urged the task force to execute their work properly.
