GA/R: Ofankor Gov't Hospital receives $1.5m medical equipment from Ministry of Health

The Ministry of Health has donated medical equipment valued at $1.5 million to the Ofankor Government Hospital, in a move aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and improving patient care at the facility in the Greater Accra Region.
Presenting the equipment, the Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, underscored the importance of prioritising the maintenance and upgrading of existing health facilities before building new ones.
He explained that effective healthcare delivery rests on three key pillars—infrastructure, staff, and equipment—and stressed the need to ensure each is adequately supported.
Mr. Akandoh reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare for all citizens, regardless of their location.
He appealed to healthcare professionals to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, noting that their dedication remains central to sustaining Ghana’s healthcare system.
While acknowledging ongoing challenges such as the shortage of healthcare workers, the Ministry assured the public that efforts are underway to recruit more staff into the system.
In the meantime, healthcare workers already serving were urged to continue giving their best to support national health goals.
The presentation of the equipment marks a significant boost for the Ofankor Government Hospital, equipping it to provide improved services to patients and reinforcing the Ministry’s broader agenda of upgrading healthcare infrastructure across the country.
