Ghana Medical Trust Fund engages CHAG to strengthen specialised healthcare delivery
The Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Obuobia Darko-Opoku, has led a delegation to pay a courtesy visit to the Executive Director of the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG), Dr. Kwame Yeboah, as part of ongoing engagements with key stakeholders in the health sector.
The meeting, held in Accra, was attended by the Deputy Executive Director of CHAG, Dr. James Duah, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA), Dr. Winfred Korletey Baah.
Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between the Ghana Medical Trust Fund and CHAG, particularly in addressing gaps in specialised care for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).
The parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to improving access to quality healthcare services, especially for vulnerable populations in underserved and hard-to-reach communities.
CHAG, which has operated in Ghana for over a century, remains a critical pillar of the country’s healthcare delivery system. The Association plays a vital role in providing healthcare services nationwide, with a strong presence in rural and remote areas where access to medical care is often limited.
Ms. Darko-Opoku underscored the importance of partnerships in ensuring the success of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, noting that collaboration with institutions such as CHAG is essential to achieving the Fund’s mandate in the evolving health landscape.
She expressed confidence that CHAG’s support would help firmly position the Trust Fund to effectively deliver on its objectives, particularly in expanding specialised care for NCDs.
Both parties emphasised that sustained cooperation, built on trust, shared purpose and national service, will be key to strengthening Ghana’s healthcare system and improving health outcomes for citizens.
The engagement forms part of broader efforts to align public and faith-based healthcare providers in delivering inclusive and sustainable healthcare solutions across the country.
