Ghana’s COVID-19 caseload now 17,741 with 13,268 recoveries
Some 390 new COVID-19 cases have taken Ghana’s total caseload to 17,741, the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye told journalists on Tuesday, 30 June 2020 at a press briefing at the Ministry of Information.
According to him, 24 patients are in critical and severe condition with four of them on ventilators.
The number of recoveries stands at 13,268.
“As of yesterday [Monday, 29 June 2020], we have recorded a total of 17,741 out of about 297,591 persons tested with a test positivity rate of 5.96 per cent”, Dr Kuma-Aboagye said, adding: “The total [number of] recoveries out of this number stands at 13,268 and we have recorded a total death [toll] of 112”.
“This brings our death rate to 0.63 per cent”, he said, “far lower than even the African average of about two per cent.”
So far, the total number of active cases is 4,361.
They are being managed at the various treatment sites and isolation centres while some are also being home-managed.
“As of this morning, we have about 24 cases who are in severe condition across the centres at UGMC, Ga East, and all the places where we have critical care being managed”, Dr Kuma-Aboagye noted.
