Health Minister Akandoh visits Northern Region to verify doctor postings
The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has visited the Northern Regionto engage with health workers and confirm whether doctors posted to the area have officially reported for duty.
The visit comes amid reports that some doctors have refused postings to underserved and remote parts of the country. Minister Akandoh’s proactive approach has drawn praise, particularly for his firm stance on blocking the salaries of doctors who fail to report to their assigned locations.
According to sources, the minister’s engagement aims to motivate doctors who have reported and encourage those yet to report to fulfill their posting obligations.
Meanwhile, the Juaboso Member of Parliament has assured health workers in the region of the government’s commitment to providing support and ensuring comfortable working conditions.
However, he warned that those who continue to refuse reporting will face strict consequences with no grace period once the ultimatum expires.
The visit highlights the government’s efforts to address staffing challenges in deprived areas and strengthen healthcare delivery across the country.
