NHIA introduces instant healthcare for the aged

The management and governing board of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) have introduced instant healthcare for all persons aged 70 and above across the country.
Instant healthcare is in line with the government's objective to accelerate the attainment of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The NHIA via its social media page made the announcement in a flyer posted on September 27, 2022.
According to NHIA, this is to help bridge the access inequity gap for the aged when they have to visit the hospital.
The policy eliminates the one-month waiting period for all subscribers aged 70 years and above to the NHIS.
