Finance Minister Casiel Ato Forson has received the Chief Justice(CJ), Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, at a courtesy call aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Ministry of Finance and the Judiciary.

The Chief Justice was accompanied by Supreme Court judge, Justice Gabriel Pwamang, Acting Director of the Ghana School of Law Prof. Raymond Atuguba, and the Judicial Secretary.

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, was also present.

During the meeting, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie expressed appreciation for the Ministry of Finance’s continued support for the Judiciary.

He cited congestion in the courts as a major constraint to efficient justice delivery and outlined several solutions currently being considered to address this challenge.

He also raised concerns regarding the working conditions of judicial staff.

Minister Forson assured the Judiciary of his commitment to working closely with both the courts and the Ministry of Justice to tackle these challenges.

Among the measures under consideration, he revealed that the Ministry is exploring the possibility of allowing the Judiciary to fully utilise its Internally Generated Funds (IGF) to address critical operational needs.
