YEA launches Ghana’s first-ever Community Medical First Responders Unit

The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale, has inaugurated Ghana’s first-ever Community Medical First Responders (CMFR) unit, marking a historic milestone in emergency healthcare delivery.
The initiative, developed by YEA in partnership with the Ghana National Ambulance Service, is designed to provide rapid medical response in communities while creating employment opportunities for Ghanaian youth.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Basintale described the CMFR programme as a groundbreaking intervention that will save lives and strengthen Ghana’s emergency healthcare system.
He assured that steps are being taken to institutionalise the unit as a permanent fixture of the national health response.
“This is one of the innovative initiatives we birthed as an agency and brought to light through collaboration with the Ambulance Service.
We shall make it a permanent unit to save more lives through rapid response and, at the same time, create more jobs for our youth.
We cannot fail the masses,” he stated.
The CMFR programme is expected to complement the work of the National Ambulance Service, particularly in underserved communities, while offering young people valuable training and employment in emergency healthcare.
