1st Dep. Speaker, Majority Leader raise objections to Minority's motion concerning ongoing termination of public appointments

The First Deputy Speaker, Bernard Ahiafor, has dismissed a private member's motion put forth by the Minority Caucus concerning the termination of appointments for individuals recruited into public service during former President Nana Akufo-Addo’s tenure after December 7, 2024.
The motion, initiated by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, along with Okaikwei Central MP Patrick Boamah and Old Tafo MP Vincent Ekow Assafuah, sought to urge Parliament to investigate the terminations directed by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah. They cited concerns over inconsistencies with good governance principles and violation of citizens' rights.
Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga raised objections to the motion, however, highlighting legal action had already been pursued regarding the matter.
Mr Ahiafor agreed with the objection, concluding discussing the motion could potentially lead to prejudicial remarks.
