#2024Polls: NDC's Joana Gyan Cudjoe breaks multiple records in Amenfi Central
The National Democratic Congress' (NDC's) Parliamentary Candidate for Amenfi Central Constituency, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has become the first female candidate to represent the NDC in the constituency.
She achieved this feat by winning with 26,345 votes representing 68.53% and this includes sweeping all the New Patriotic Party (NPP) strongholds in the constituency.
Her contender, Dr Albert Wiredu Arkoh on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party, gained 12,096 votes representing 31.47%.
Joana Gyan Cudjoe's victory was not without its challenges.
Just two days before the election, her opponents attempted to place a ban on her contesting but ultimately failed to succeed in their efforts.
Undeterred, Joan Gyan Cudjoe persevered and went on to secure the highest number of votes ever recorded in Amenfi Central history.![]()
As the newly elected Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central and a private businesswoman, Joan Gyan Cudjoe is expected to make a meaningful impact in the lives of her constituents and bring much-needed development to a neglected area.
Although the Electoral Commission (EC) is yet to make her victory official including other parliamentary victors, the EC has declared John Dramani Mahama as the new President of the Republic of Ghana.
