#2024Polls: NPP contests Suhum parliamentary results, confident in Protozoa’s victory
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Chairman for Suhum Constituency, Frederick Ofosu, has expressed confidence in the victory of the party’s Parliamentary Candidate, Frank Asiedu Bekoe, popularly known as Protozoa, in the recently concluded elections.
Addressing the media, Ofosu contested the delay in the Electoral Commission's declaration of the results, maintaining that Bekoe secured a clear win.
According to Ofosu, Protozoa amassed 17,614 votes, defeating his closest rival, Prince Addo of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who garnered 15,428 votes—a difference of 1,686 votes.
He urged the Electoral Commission to expedite the process and officially declare the NPP candidate as the winner.
Mr Frank Asiedu Bekoe described the electoral process as largely peaceful, despite challenges at the collation centre.
He called for security agencies to investigate and address any incidents that disrupted the process, ensuring accountability and transparency.
Bekoe also urged the Electoral Commission to perform its constitutionally mandated duty without interference, reiterating his confidence in the integrity of the election process.
The NPP remains optimistic as they await the official declaration of results by the Electoral Commission, scheduled for Tuesday, December 10.
The party has called for calm among its supporters while emphasizing their commitment to democratic principles.
Protozoa’s team has pledged to work tirelessly to represent the people of Suhum and deliver on campaign promises once his victory is confirmed.
