24-hour economy: Even UK has appointed night Czar; what is the NPP noise for? – NDC

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is calling on the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to embrace its decision to implement a 24-hour economy, urging an end to what they term as "sinister noise" surrounding the policy.
Alfred Ogbamey, a former Corporate Affairs Manager of Ghana Gas Company Limited and member of the NDC communications team, expressed these sentiments during a discussion segment on The Citizen Show hosted by Kwabena Bobie Ansah on Accra 100.5 FM on Thursday, December 7, 2023.
Mr Ogbamey raised concerns about the NPP's approach to former President John Dramani Mahama's commitment to implement a 24-hour economy if elected in the 2024 general elections.
Drawing an analogy, he likened the NPP's reaction to that of a jealous stepmother unwilling to acknowledge the beauty of her rival's daughter.
He queried what the noise was about the NDC’s decision to introduce a 24-Hour economy, when every country across the world has found it prudent.
He highlighted the United Kingdom's (UK) continuous efforts to enhancing its 24-hour economy, emphasising that even sophisticated economies like the UK are implementing additional measures to further boost night-time economic activities.
He explained that the UK has appointed a Czar, in other words, a night mayor to steer its night economy.
Calling for a departure from petty politicking, Mr Ogbamey urged the NPP to embrace the 24-hour economy policy for the benefit of the people.
He urged the NPP to rise above political rivalry and prioritise the welfare of the nation, emphasising that if the UK, with an established 24-hour economy, is taking steps to enhance it, Ghana should similarly aspire to progress in economic policies for the betterment of its citizens.
The NDC's appeal signals a call for unity and cooperation in addressing key national development initiatives
