Awutu Senya East MCE denies sanctioning demolition at Peace Town, orders investigation into activities of Impostors

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly in the Central Region, Mr Seth Sabah Serwornoo Banini, has disassociated himself from an alleged demolition exercise reportedly carried out in Peace Town, a community within the municipality, on his orders.
Speaking in an interview on Accra-based CTV’s Oma Ghana Nkosuo morning show hosted by Obaapa Yaa Titi, Mr. Banini categorically denied authorising any demolition operation in the area and described the incident as unauthorised and illegal.
“I have not sanctioned any demolition exercise in Peace Town. I have directed a thorough investigation into those using my name and office to carry out such unauthorised actions,” the MCE stated.
The MCE further warned that anyone found impersonating him or misusing his office to perpetrate acts of intimidation or destruction would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
He assured affected residents that the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly remains committed to lawful, transparent, and humane development processes, emphasising that any legitimate demolition or redevelopment initiative would follow due legal and administrative procedures.
The MCE also urged the public to verify official directives through the Assembly’s channels before acting on any purported instructions attributed to his office.
He stressed that on the day of the demolition, he was out of the municipality, stating it beat his imagination how people are quick to link his office to the exercise
Meanwhile, local authorities have commenced preliminary inquiries to identify the individuals or groups responsible for the alleged unauthorised exercise.
