Blame Akufo-Addo for ‘galamsey’, not Mahama –Nana Yaa Jantuah to NPP
Former Convention People's Party (CPP) General Secretary, Nana Yaa Jantuah has urged people who are blaming John Mahama for illegal mining to stop.
She believes that the President, who is legally entitled to all of the nation's mineral riches, should be held accountable for the threat known as "galamsey."
According to Nana Yaa Jantuah, it surprises her that people continue to hold the former President responsible for the problems in the mining industry, even though the constitution makes this explicit.
She said that the President has to bear full responsibility for the chaos the practice is causing since he is in charge of the nation's resources.
"There is one crucial detail that is often overlooked while discussing galamsey.
They ought to study Article 268 of the Constitution, which states that the President of Ghana is the only owner of all mineral resources.
Not John Mahama, but Nana Akufo-Addo is that President. We will hold Nana Addo solely accountable if it is not being managed properly or if it is being handled in a way that destroys our livelihoods,'' Nana Yaa Jantuah said.
She asserts that since the former President is not in command of the situation, Ghanaians ought to refrain from associating him with it.
"Thus, it is appropriate for them to cease mentioning John Mahama.
The mandate, authority, or power to supervise the responsible administration of our mineral resources was not granted to John Mahama today.
Nana Akufo bears that responsibility,'' she stated in an interview with Accra-based Original TV.
