C/R: Baba Gariba Adams confirmed as Assin Fosu MCE with unanimous endorsement from Assembly Members

Baba Gariba Adams has been overwhelmingly confirmed as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Assin Fosu Municipality Assembly in the Central Region, securing a unanimous vote of confidence from Assembly Members.
All 22 Assembly Members present at the confirmation ceremony held at the Centenary Hall in Assin Fosu voted in favour of Mr. Adams, giving him a 100% endorsement.
The election, which took place under tight security, was observed by traditional leaders, government officials, and members of the public.
His confirmation follows the earlier rejection of former nominee Charlotte Boakye.
The landslide approval for Baba Gariba is being hailed as a show of unity and a collective commitment to advancing the municipality’s development agenda.
The exercise was supervised by the Central Regional Minister, Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, who lauded the peaceful and orderly conduct of the process.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Adams expressed profound gratitude to the Assembly Members for the confidence reposed in him.
He pledged to prioritise collaboration with all stakeholders to address key challenges such as sanitation, youth unemployment, and infrastructure development.
“I am committed to running an open, transparent, and inclusive administration,” Mr. Adams said.
“Together, we will work to transform Assin Fosu into a model municipality.”
Baba Gariba is widely respected for his humility and grassroots connection.
As former NDC Constituency Chairman for eight years, he played a key role in ending the NPP’s 24-year electoral dominance in Assin Central—an achievement that significantly boosted his political profile.
Meanwhile, Central Regional NDC Chairman, Prof Richard Kofi Asiedu, commended the Assembly Members for their overwhelming support, describing Baba Gariba as the ideal leader for the municipality.
“He is a unifier, not a divider,” Prof Asiedu noted.
“His leadership will bring development, inclusiveness, and a renewed sense of purpose to the people of Assin Fosu.”
