DKM: Lordina Mahama innocent – Nkoranza youth
A group called the Nkoranza Youth for Lordina Mahama, held an emergency press conference to address allegations against Former First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Mahama, regarding the activities of DKM microfinance in the former Brong Ahafo Region.
Speaking at the event at Nkoranza on Friday, July 26, 2024, Mr Suleman Mohammed-Mustapha emphasised that Lordina Mahama is completely innocent and not involved in the DKM microfinance scheme owned by Martin Dele and other similar ponzi schemes.
Mr Mohammed-Mustapha highlighted that on January 15, 2016, ModernGhana.com reported that the Bank of Ghana confirmed Mrs Lordina Mahama neither owns nor holds shares in DKM.
He alleged that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) exploited this situation for political gains in the region, spreading falsehoods that the microfinance collapse was orchestrated by former President John Dramani Mahama and that the funds were used to support the NDC’s 2016 campaign.
He said the NPP promised to refund depositors’ money if voted into power, leading to significant support against the NDC in the 2016 elections.
Mohammed-Mustapha expressed that President Akufo-Addo's promise on September 13, 2016, to repay the locked funds swayed many voters.
He noted that since the NPP took office in 2017, no investigative body has called Lordina Mahama about DKM suggesting her innocence.
He stressed that Lordina Mahama, the Certified Sompahemaa of the Nkoranza Traditional Area, would never involve herself in such schemes, upholding the dignity and reputation of the Nkoranza community
