Defence Minister questions Bawumia’s refusal to accept blame for NPP’s defeat

Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has questioned why Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the defeated flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 general elections, is refusing to take personal responsibility for the party’s loss.
In a Facebook post dated April 27, 2025, Dr. Omane Boamah, who also served as the Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the last election, expressed concern over Dr. Bawumia’s attempts to blame "everything and everybody" except himself for the NPP’s electoral defeat.
According to Dr. Omane Boamah, Dr. Bawumia played a critical role in the policies that led to the country's economic downturn under the NPP administration.
Thus, he cannot absolve himself from blame.
“Elections 2024: Bawumia is blaming everything and everybody EXCEPT HIMSELF.
Bawumia was critical for NPP’s economic mess!” Dr. Omane Boamah wrote.
