EC begins nationwide distribution of ballot papers for Dec. 7 elections
The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that it will begin transporting ballot papers across the country on Thursday, November 14, as part of preparations for the upcoming December 7 elections.
In a letter dated November 13, the EC notified the General Secretaries of various political parties of the schedule for the ballot distribution.
The process will kick off in the Greater Accra Region on Thursday, followed by deliveries to the Central, Western, Savannah, and Upper West Regions on Friday, November 15.
Ballot papers for the Ashanti, Ahafo, and Western North Regions are scheduled to arrive on Saturday, November 16.
This distribution phase is a continuation of the EC’s extensive preparations over the past month, which have included finalizing voter registration, designating polling stations, and training election officers.
The EC has arranged for the ballot papers to be securely stored in police facilities in each region until election day.
On election day, the ballots will be handed over to officials in the presence of party representatives to maintain transparency.
Assuring the public of a secure electoral process, the EC emphasized that strict security measures are in place to protect the integrity of the election, prevent tampering, and restrict unauthorized access to the ballot papers.
