EC to announce regional presidential results before national results after polls – Bossman Asare
Dr. Eric Bossman Asare, Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), has announced that the Commission will declare the presidential election results from all 16 regions before announcing the national outcome in the upcoming December 7 elections.
This move, according to Dr. Bossman Asare, is aimed at enhancing transparency throughout the electoral process.
Speaking at the launch of the Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) Election Monitoring System, Dr. Bossman Asare reiterated the EC’s commitment to conducting a free and fair election.
He outlined the step-by-step process for the collation of results, starting at the polling station level, then moving to the constituency collation centres, and finally to the regional centres.
"For the presidential election, after results are gathered from polling stations, they will be sent to the constituency collation centres," he explained.
"From there, the results will move to the regional collation centres, where the Commission will announce the presidential results for each region.
The parties are well aware of this procedure."
The EC’s decision to declare regional results prior to the national result aims to foster greater accountability and provide clear updates to the public as the results unfold, he concluded.
